In Andhra Pradesh to the set-up of a floating solar power plant, (GVMC) the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation took a good step to the construction of a 2MW floating solar farm at Mudasarlova reservoir.
In Hanumanthawaka the Mudasarlova reservoir, around one million gallons of drinking water made available for use per day.
“This programme, a part of the smart city projects of GVMC” this will be one of the largest floating solar plants in the country.
As per the proposal, solar modules are fixed atop floaters which will allow the panel to stay on top of the water body. Compared with ground-mounted installations due to the moderating effect of water bodies on the panel’s temperature Floating solar plants are considered as greater efficiency.
“The design of the project provided by Quant Solar Technology Private Limited and is being executed by PES Engineers private limited. The work is implemented by the PES Engineers private limited, Hyderabad.” Mahesh the assistant engineer of the company expressed.
At starting the season of the summer there are chances of water level to decrease, the assistant engineer, expressed. The solar plant equipment is ready and set up of the solar panels and floaters will be based on the water level in the reservoir. The project will be completed by june in this year if the water level meets the required criteria.
This is part of a plan to harness the solar power of 10MW through different projects. Identicial projects are in the pipeline for execution of 3MW at Meghadrigedda reservoir and 5MW at Raiwada water supply canal, According to the information.
