Mercury shoots up at several places in State
Vishakapatnam extremely hot as the mercury touched 40° Celsius on Monday. The heat was touched almost all areas of the city except the areas near to the beach.

The maximum temperature noted on Monday from morning to evening higher than the normal at many places, according to the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) here.
The maximum temperatures recorded (in °C) are: Gannavaram, Visakhapatnam Airport – 40, Waltair – 34, Tuni, Nandigama, Rentachintala – 40 each, Kakinada – 38, Nellore – 39, Ongole, Machilipatnam and Kavali – 37, Bapatla – 35, Kalingapatnam -35. The bandh conducted by the Opposition parties saved children from the expectation of going to school in the hot sun.
The high temperatures and breezy winds results a storm of heavy hail in Vizianagaram district during the next couple of days. Isolated rain is also likely in coastal A.P. at the same time.
Thunderstorm along with breezy winds is likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari on north coastal AP on April 20, according to IMD (India Meteorological Department).
