A three-day skill development programme on ‘Value added specialty fish products’, organised by ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), for Small Scale Fishers Producer Company, as part of its diamond jubilee celebrations at the Visakhapatnam Research Centre of CIFT concluded on Friday.
The Small Scale Fishers Producer Company is managed by fisher women of Mangammaripeta fishing village and they operate a mobile vending van ‘Fish Nutri Cart’, stationed on Beach Road near YMCA and sell fishery products.
The fisherwomen were trained on different value added fish products namely fish burger, fish samosa, fish momo, fish cutlets, fish fingers, grilled fish, butterfly shrimp and stretch shrimp.
The training was aimed at improving the hands-on skills for preparing variety fish products to increase consumer appeal. The training programme was meant to empower the budding women entrepreneurs of small scale fisher folk to enhance their income and improve their livelihood.
Director ICAR-CIFT, Kochi, C.N. Ravishankardistributed certificates to the trainees. Scientist-in-Charge R. Raghu Prakash and Principal Scientist B. Madhusudana Rao were present.
