Underground Driveway Suggested On Beach Road

As a part of comprehensive development of the Beach Road, a proposal to develop an underground driveway will be placed before the Chief Minister.

The stretch of the road above the driveway, proposed for about 1 km, will be converted into green space. As a part of the Smart City project, designs are already in an advanced stage for underground parking and passage connecting the Submarine museum and TU 142 Aircraft museum. This is aimed at creating an integrated museum complex as a unique tourist attraction.

The design of the stretch of underground driveway leading to underground parking has been presented to HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

However, technical aspects are yet to be studied further and CRZ norms should be taken into consideration, according to VUDA Vice-Chairman P. Basanth Kumar.

The main idea is to make part of the Beach Road vehicle-free.

He told reporters here on Monday that the designs would be placed before Mr. Chandrababu Naidu during his scheduled visit on June 21.

The plans for development of IT City at Madhurawada will also be presented to the Chief Minister. Mr. Basant Kumar said for development of phase I an investment of ₹1200 crore was required. The interested developer will have to make an initial payment and offer a part of the revenue to VUDA that will provide the land.

Medical tourism

VUDA that still is left out with 11 row houses at Rushikonda will now lease them to A.P. Medical Rehabilitation Tourism (AMRIT) Society of the Ayush Department for medical tourism.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate medical tourism offering ayurvedic and yoga therapies.

Mr. Basanth Kumar said following up an earlier proposal the Institute of Human Resource Development started running courses in row houses and so far 20 were conducted. Its top officials have already been shown a few sites for development of a permanent regional centre for the institute.
