Weavers from throughout the country are exhibiting silk sarees and different types of other silk products at the ‘Silk India Expo’ were started at the gateway hotel.
The six-day exhibition-cum-sale is being organized by Hastashilpi – Artisans and Weavers Welfare Association. Managing director of Hastashilpi T. Abhinand expressed the concept of the association was to make available for using the weavers from many regions a platform to exhibit their products and directly attract consumers.
The specialty of the exhibition is showcasing some of the dying traditional artworks of the country. The exhibition has representation from throughout the country.
For example, the batik work sarees, which are with great care done by the artisans in West Bengal, they are struggling to survive the reason is lack of support as well as a heavy procedure involved in making these.
The summer most-liked fabrics of linens are exhibited in an array of shades and styles in saree. Kalamkari identifies a place in different forms at the exhibition with Chanderi fabrics and Maheshwari silks. The exhibition will be on till April 2.
