Volunteers of the Youth Wing of Sri Sathya Sai Baba Organisations created awareness among road users on ‘safety’ at Satyam junction here on Sunday.
The young members, who had completed 10th class and Intermediate, had recently undergone free training at a programme, conducted by the organisation on the topic ‘Future plan’. Inspired by the service activities of the organisation, they volunteered to participate in the traffic awareness programme.
They stood at the busy traffic island in the sweltering summer heat, holding placards on road safety, to catch the attention of motorists and other road users. The placards read: ‘Don’t drink and drive’, ‘wear helmet, reach your destination safely’, ‘adhere to traffic rules, prevent accidents’ and against talking on the mobile phone while driving.
The men’s wing coordinator of Visakhapatnam district D. Raghava Rao, training programmes coordinator Bandi Suresh and Mahila wing district coordinator Priyadarshini were among those who participated.
Traffic SIs P. Ramesh and N. Kumar appreciated the youngsters for doing their bit to inculcate the safety habit among motorists and other road users.
