Park with special facilities for differently abled children


This park has special facilities for the differently abled children with the budget of Rs 3.5-crore.

On Thursday at RK beach the city will throw open the gates of the ‘Park For Children With All Abilities’. This is the first kind of park with special facilities for differently abled children and it will be inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during his visit to the city on Thursday.

This park is developed by the GVMC under the Smart Cities Mission with the cost of 3.5 crores. The redesigning of the park intends to make this the first one in the country that provides special facilities to differently abled individuals said by GVMC Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan.

The vertical climbing net, horse rider, supernova, crawling tunnel, specially-abled shoulder builder, palm wheel, leg roller, merry-go-round are the features of the park for the specially-abled children, midi space net, spire net, play panel and garden sound play equipment.

It has elevated pathways with pre-fabricated frames, the pathway with interlocking paver blocks of 300 square meter area and a multi-purpose lawn.

“The new design will appeal to the senses for the users of all age groups. The purpose of the design of the park is to focus on the premise that access is not only a basic human right but also an important part of ensuring a high quality of life. The objective here is to provide social equality for all users of all abilities,” Mr. Narayanan explained.

He also added that the design of the park will enable access for users with visual impairment, hearing impairment, physical disability and mental and cognitive disability. The focus has been on areas like approachability, accessibility and sensory stimulation of the space with various elements.
