GVMC has a target of collecting property and vacant land tax for 2018-19. The target amount Rs.300 crore includes vacant land tax.
GVMC set a target for this year is 15.38 % comparatively with last year’s Rs 260 crore. Against the target of Rs.260 crore, by the end of March, Rs.247.7 crore has been realized of which VLT was Rs. 18.5 crore.
Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan congratulated the officials and staff in meeting with officials on Tuesday night.
Month-wise targets fixed for effective collection of tax, he expressed officials. He guided officials to form an enforcement unit for the collection of profession tax. Mr. Hari Narayanan called people to avail themselves of the 5 % tax incentive by paying the property tax by April 30.
There were no glitches in the online payment system and its working well. People can pay advance tax also at the ‘Saukaryam’ counters at the GVMC zone offices, ‘Mee Seva’ centers.
