Four Japanese companies in the Vizag to recruit students for jobs in IT

Four Japanese companies have step forward to recruit students from Vishakapatnam for jobs in artificial intelligence and other emerging areas in information technology in their country.

After detailing about their requirement, they held preliminary interview for placement at GITAM (deemed to be University) on Tuesday. The initiative has been taken under Look for Employment in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP) introduced by the AP government.

Encouraging response

“In the first phase, the Japanese companies will recruit 30 students for training to meet their requirement. If their performance is good to their satisfaction, they have promised to visit Vizag for next round of recruitment in September,” AP Innovation Society (APIS) CEO Winny Patro told The Hindu.APIS, he expressed, had also promised IT company leaders in Finland in getting suitable candidates in the State under LEAP. In response to promise to meet the shortfall under LEAP, officials from AI Tokyo Lab & Co (a group company of Satudora Holdings), Denso International India Pvt. Ltd, En-Japan Inc and Global Asset Community Co. Ltd are camping in the city.

The drive inspried an encouraging response with 1,277 applications from 19 selected colleges. Among them, 298 students were short-listed by Japanese firms for first phase and 18 appeared for interviews based on their background. A detailed presentation on their requirement was made to the students on Monday. Sources said 33 students were selected for interviews of which one had been selected for recruitment. Commenting on the recruitment, Hiroki Tomiyama, CEO of AI Tokoy Lab & Co said: “We appreciate the students for evincing interest on our AI solution and activities through the job fair. Through this event we directly felt that students have big passion for high technology as well as good knowledge. We hope that many students from A.P. will be interested to work in Japan.”
