To supply midday meals for educational institutions in Visakhapatnam district 9 centralised kitchens are to be constructed. To provide healthy and nutritious food for school students, the state government had recently had an agreement with the private agency. The major role was played by local self-help women group at present school cooking system it was replacing by centralised kitchen system in a prototype shift. From September 15, the centralised kitchen system starts supplying midday meals to students about 1.87 lakhs in about 1,908 schools as per the agreement.
“The workers of the midday meals scheme in school are not going remove and they will pay them with Rs 1000 per month by the private agency. To make uniformity in midday meals for all school in a district, the centralised kitchen system has been started. From the centralised kitchen, food will be supply to every school under this system.” said by district education officer B Lingeswara Reddy.
