Dress code at Durga temple from New Year’s day


Traditional dress is mandatory for devotees seeking darshan and arjitha sevas at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devatsanams starting from New Year’s day.

The dress code mainly for women devotees, lehenga and blouse, saree come under the traditional classification. Some of the women will be there at the temple surroundings to stop those who wear western dress.

Kanaka Durga temple management will implement a dress code in the temple, after Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams.

A ceremonial welcome to Indian woman cricketer Mithali Raj, who visited the temple in modern dress, had sparked a controversy, forcing the temple authorities to implement the rule.

Ladies are requested to wear sarees or other traditional dress, every devotee has to follow the dress code. This is to protect the sanctity of the temple and promote our culture temple EO Koteswaramma expressed. This is not a new rule and TTD is it implementing for years without any problem.”
