Diesel Loco Shed of Visakhapatnam Reached Mile stone

Mukul Saran Mathur the divisional Railway Manager Flagging off 300th loco on Friday and Diesel Loco Shed of Visakhapatnam approached one more mile with it. The DLS (Disel loco shed) is the biggest loco holding in Indian railways loco shed with various type and class of locomotives.

The shed regularly granting 9.48 per cent more loco comparatively Railway Board’s target in freight service and keeping top position regarding all the loco sheds of Indian Railways.

Both the fright and coaching services the shed is giving about 80 per cent above the target outage which is also the best among all the sheds of Indian Railways and continuing the top position.

The Diesel Loco Shed is having 54 locomotives running in coaching link, along with one set of distinguished Rajdhani Express, which would be launched from 10 February.

DRM Waltair obtained IMS certification (ISO: 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems, ISO: 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems and OHSAS: 18001:2007 for Occupational, In recent days DLS/VSKP is one of the proud IMS certified shed in Indian Railways, Health and Safety Management Systems on January 25.

The DLS is having 203 locos equipped with remote monitoring system. Efficiency of loco motives could be monitor directly from DLS control room on real time data basis. Provision of REMMLOT is helpful for avoid at the same time predictive maintenance of locomotives, through that prevents the failure and increase the accuracy of locomotives. The recent manufactured loco motives all have the new feature.

Diesel Locos are now equipped with APUs which allow the loco for optimum utilization of fuel 2 liters per working hour by auto shutting down of main engine if idling for above 10 minutes.

The APU system preserves fuel, decreases lube oil consumption, reduces engine wear and tear, and lowers emissions and sound pollutions by unnecessary unwanted engine idling in station, for now fifty eight Locos of DLS are fitted with APUs and coming new locos are have the new future.

The new locos are provided with DPCS which enables to long haul the train without formation of collective unit. It not only protects additional crew but also to clear load at a individual operation.
