Rushikonda Beach trip turned tragic for a team of engineering students as two they reportedly drowned off Rushikonda Beach, here on Sunday.
A team of 5 B Tech. Second-year students one of the private engineering colleges in the city went to the Rushikonda Beach the weekend jolly trip.
While taking bath, all of them were drunk deeper into the sea by a strong current.
The Coastal Security Police (CSP) and the locals present at the spot, managed to rescue three of them But, two students of the group drowned.
The victims identified K. Hari Kiran (19). and Pawan Kumar (19). The body of Pawan Kumar washed ashore after a while, Kiran was yet to be traced till the last report came in. The CSP launched a search operation.
PM Palem Police Station Inspector K. Lakshman Murthy registered a case and sent Pawan’s body for post-mortem.
The sea surface was rough, the students paid no attention and entered into the deep waters. The rescued students have been admitted to a hospital and are undergoing treatment,” the CSP personnel expressed.
