Awareness rallies marked the World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, here on Sunday. The district administration took out a rally in which highers, students, health workers, RNTCP supervisors participated. The programme concluded in a meeting at the ZP meeting hall. The participants launched a logo and took a pledge to put in their effort for eradication of TB.
DM&HO S. Tirupathi Rao, District TB Control Officer N. Vasundhara, AMC principal P.V. Sudhakar, Additional DM & HO R. Ramesh, IMA State president Subrahmanyam and District Immunisation Officer Jeevana Rani deliberated on the prevalence, symptoms, healthcare facilities and the newest developments in the research. Cured patients were felicitated on the occasion.
At VIMS hospital, an awareness rally was organised in which students of D. Pharmacy students of Vignan Institute participated. Pulmonologist Dr. Anuradha said that having cough for more than two weeks, frequent fever, loss of appetite and unexplained loss of weight are the critical symptoms. Dr. Sravana Lakshmi said HIV and diabetes patients are vulnerable to the disease. VIMS Director Kadali Satyavara Prasad was present.
