24×7 Drinking Water Supply Project For The Vizag Residentials


The proposed 24 hours drinking water supply project for the local people areas in the North West part of the GVMC (Greater Vishakapatnam Municipal Corporation) limits is all confirmed and become a reality soon the project contractor has been finalised.

The state government has control the operations of GVMC to issue a letter of the action of consenting to receive to it. The Asian Development Bank will make available for use about Rs 350 crore for the capital works of the project as part of the Visakhapatnam Chennai Industrial Corridor.

The proposals of the project contain as part of a whole 24 hours water supply in the north-west area of the central town, reducing the extent of (NRW) non-revenue water meters. The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation has suggested another 24 hours water project in the (ABD) area based development; it is one of the major concepts of Visakhapatnam Smart City project.

The operation at the current time prestressed concrete pipeline network will be take the place of with mild steel pipeline from Narava water treatment plant to Ramakrishnapuram.

Three elevated level service reservoirs and four ground-level reservoirs will also come up cover with a flat stones way for 24 hours water supply. At present, nearly 24 lakh people make their home in a particular place in the North West area of the city with a water demand of 67 MLD each day that is regard as likely to happen to go up to 94 MLD by 2029.

GVMC official make known that they presented with proposals from two bidders for the project. “We have opened the tenders on October 26, 2017 and submitted the opinions over the proposals to the ADB on November 27. In addition give new structure of water network system of the city, the primary focus will be on reducing the non-revenue water.

As per estimations, the non-revenue water accounts for about 40% in Visakhapatnam. The ADB’s report indicate that about 265 kilometres is place over by the giving out network in the north-west sector of the city.
