Visakhapatnam International Airport has record a huge growth in the number of international fliers, as per the latest air traffic update.
As per the report, a number of international passengers 14,351 travelled through Visakhapatnam International Airport in January 2018 as against 10,221 in the corresponding period of 2017. Only in the month of January VTZ has registred a 40.4% growth in this year compared with previous years.
The growth is coming from many reasons; many international flights from VTZ to international destinations such are Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia among others. In the period of time the airport registered 158 international flights in 2018 January, in 2017 January the number was 122, overall, and 1,421 international flights took off from Vizag between April-January in 2017-18, against 1,191 in the period of 2016-17.
Serving international passengers the airport has accomplished a strong growth but it has not maintained the same speed providing services to domestic passengers, expressed Kuppili Ravi Teja, a regular passenger who is an application analyst in an IT company.
The poor growth rate of domestic passengers is mainly due to cancellation of flights by the operators due to many reasons expressed O Naresh Kumar, vice-president of Andhra Pradesh Air Travellers’ Association.
One of the highers of Vizag airport expressed “the number of international passengers flights have gone up. Continuously over a period of time on feedback from passengers and have been trying our best to prepare it one of the best airport in the country.
