AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu formally launched smart cycles and he went to his office by riding a smart bike from the block II to block I of the in Secretariat in Amaravati.
There are total 30 smart cycles are used for secretariat premises. This is an ultra-modern 3 gear cycles at a cost of Rs.1 lakh each, and it bought from Germany.
The Chief Minister suggested the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to equip the pickup stations with air conditioning, solar panels and seating arrangement in the cycle parking area. the CRDA explained to the Chief Minister, there are three pickup and drop stations are setting-up with 10 cycles each in the secretariat area.
CRDA commissioner Ch. Sridhar explained the project and mentioned about the Andhra Bank financial aid of ’30 lakh for this project.
The Registration is required for these smart cycles to issue smart card, which is necessary for the cycle to function even these are available for free. The smart bike basket even carries a helmet. The organizers explained about establishing smart bike stands at the bus station outside the Secretariat in block II and V.
They also explained any employee or visitor can unlock the bike to use by getting register to attain a membership smart card with their names. These smart bikes can be managed through mobile app and the details will be displayed on the screens which were arranged at the bike stations.
Mr. Naidu recommended for developing green and beautiful parks near these stations, asking the officials for the possibility of setting up a smart cycle manufacturing unit in Andhra state.
Amaravati Capital Region Development Authority is constructing special cycling tracks in the capital region, to keep the capital under construction pollution free.
The Chief Minister explored his satisfaction about the structure and designing construction of the bike that stands in the Secretariat and instructed the All-India Bicycles Federation to introduce smart bikes in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati.
At present, these Smart bikes can be used free of cost and in the future will be chargeable based on the hiring time.
