According to the Hindustan Times, Donald Trump proposal on H-1B visa program could affect on many Indian IT professionals and their Families.
Approximately 5,00,000 to 7,50,000 Indian H-1B visa holders could return home from US if the US administration goes under President Donald Trump proposals “Buy American, Hire American” to protect local jobs for Americans.
And this proposal being viral in the Homeland Security (DHS) department that leads to more limitations and misuse of H-1B visas.
The US Allows 85,000 non-immigrant H-1B visas in every year, Hires 65,000 foreigners abroad and 20,000 foreigners for advanced degree courses in Schools/colleges in US.
From these visas 70 percent goes to Indians as estimated that comes from IT companies mostly. The refusal of extension will certainly leads a big impact on their futures and families.
According to the reports, People who applied for Green card for permanent in US has been accepted and extensions of H-1B visas was not granted.
R Chandrashekhar, President, National Association for Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) said, “That formulation has conditions which are extremely onerous and makes it very difficult for people to not just get the visa but also on how they can be used,” in new agency Press Trust of India.
Sushma Swaraj (External Affairs Minister) raised about H1-B visa issue with State Rex Tillerson, US secretary in October and requested for not to engage with any action as it affect on Indians.
