Visakhapatnam: Elaborate arrangements are being made for allotting pucca houses to all the eligible poor in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation limits under the scheme `Housing for all’.
Informing this to mediapersons here on Wednesday, GVMC Commissioner Harinarayanan said as many as 2.18 lakh houses had been sanctioned to Visakhapatnam city under the scheme and of this, 4,000 were already constructed.
The identification of the beneficiaries and registration process would also be taken up and the construction of the remaining houses would be taken up on a war-footing, he said.
The Commissioner said that the scheme would also apply to the villages which were merged in the GVMC. A comprehensive plan to provide basic facilities at the housing complexes was ready and it would be sent to government for final approval.
Once the work order was given by the government, drinking water, sanitation, drainage, roads and other facilities would be created, he added.
